Sherry Fernandez is the founder and Editor in Chief of SocialShelfSpace.com and serves as the publication’s managing editor and final editorial authority.
She brings more than two decades of experience in media, digital publishing, and technology-driven communications.
Upon receiving her degree in Mass Communication, Mrs. Fernandez began her career at AvMed, where from 1995 to 1997 she established and managed the organization’s Health Management Senior Relations program, gaining early experience at the intersection of health, communication, and public engagement.
Her work in digital media began in 1997 with The Miami Herald’s Miami.com, contributing to the dining and entertainment sections during the early commercial expansion of the web (1997–1999). This period marked her entry into online publishing and audience-focused content development.
During the dot-com era, Mrs. Fernandez co-founded a national content syndication and advertising network for college newspapers, operating at scale during the formative years of online media. The company was later acquired by Bankrate.com, where she led the division and expanded content distribution models. She subsequently applied this experience to the travel sector after joining Carnival Cruise Lines in 2001, where she worked on expanding digital content experiences.
From 2003 to 2008, Mrs. Fernandez was recruited by Oracle Corporation, where she supported strategic enterprise accounts through digital content development, global communications, performance tracking, and internal marketing training materials.
In 2009, she founded SocialShelfSpace.com to apply her experience in media, technology, and digital platforms to independent editorial work focused on how emerging technologies affect people, families, and society.
As Editor in Chief, she oversees editorial strategy, standards, contributor review, and event-related coverage, ensuring that all published content reflects accuracy, independence, and long-term relevance.
